Zyklon B
Zyklon B was originally designed to murder insects rather than humans. More than 95% of the Zyklon B delivered to Auschwitz was used for less than 5% in the gas chambers. The Jews at the concentration camps were packed into a large chamber. Then, the doors were closed and an SS officer would drop solid pellets of Zyklon B into many columns on roof of the chamber. The pellets reacted with the air resulting in a poisonous gas that causes the respiratory system to fail. |
